These archival prints are apart of an ongoing series made by deriving natural color from organic matter in a process known as “eco-printing.” It is a printing technique that pulls dye color and patterns from different plants, flowers, and other botanicals through a long steaming process with rust in a turkey roaster. Each botanical print is made on watercolor paper in a group of batches from different seasons throughout the year. Many of the prints get cut-down into covers for softbound notebooks or bookmarks—all sold by tree fibers, a studio project and craft business I created to make functional work for collectors, creative types, and readers.
